THE
BATHER'S
ARCH
The client approached Graff Guild to renovate the bathroom of their 1920s Tudor home nestled in the West Orange hills overlooking Manhattan. They were looking to make minor but impactful changes to the existing layout of the bathroom, which had original architectural features and outdated tiles, and to bring a vintage-meets-modern sensibility to the space.
Original architectural elements — the arches, aged brass hardware, and the oak-paneled door — would serve as both the framework and the palette for our design story. With an emphasis on artisanal craftsmanship, we were able to install a custom hexagonal mosaic pattern on the floors and a lime plaster finish to the walls, while also mixing in a few modern fixtures alongside the reclaimed elements, to create a vibe that blends seamlessly with the home’s 1920s pedigree.
