ENCHANTED WOODLAND
When local Maplewood homeowners tapped Graff Guild to upgrade their cavernous basement, they were looking for ways to reprogram their three-story home for modern living. To bring the project to life, we drew inspiration from our expertise in historic renovations and the couple’s brownstone-inspired aesthetic. The goal was to convert the partially below-ground basement from a storage space into a livable space with a new entryway and mudroom.
To craft an airy family room from the confined space, we had to remove and replace the existing mechanicals and expose the original floor joists–maximizing the ceiling height. We converted the "wet area" into a toilet into a proper three-piece bathroom, dedicated laundry area, and kitchenette. We also collaborated with Shapes for the People to land on the perfect nature-inspired color palette for the home.
